Westwell Village Hall

The village hall is in the centre of the village, on Gold Hill, near The Wheel Inn and the church. It is the venue for many of the community activities detailed on this site, including meetings of the parish council and W.I., productions by The Westwell Players, the summer Fete and the Christmas Bazaar. The hall is owned by the parish council, and is managed on its behalf by a charitable trust, (reg 302879) which holds regular management meetings in the hall.

The hall has kitchen and toilet facilities and is available to hire by the public. Trestle tables are also available to hire. Please click here for details

There is a limited amount of parking available on the Playing Field, for users of the Hall, subject to the field not being too muddy. This is accessible from the track off Downs View - users will need to obtain a key for the track gate padlock when arranging hall hire.

We are always looking for people to get involved in running the hall - please contact Clive Bainbridge if you can offer your time.

The existing hall has served us well since it was established in 1954, but is now coming towards the end of its useful life so we are mindful of the need to plan for building a new hall in the future. We would be particularly interested to hear from anyone who has experience of applying for funding for community projects of this nature.

Westwell Playing Field

The playing field was purchased by the Parish Council in 1966 from a local landowner, for use as a recreational area by the parish. The field is open to residents and visitors alike, and is the venue for the popular village fete, held annually in August.

Over the years a number of items of play and sports equipment have been installed, some of which were gifts and others funded by the Parish Council and Playing Field Association, either directly or through grants. These include: a small football pitch and 2 goals (of sufficient size for 5-a-side football), an extensive play area and a youth shelter.
